What is Karis Counseling?
Karis is a Greek word meaning "Grace." It is a spiritual term referring to the influence of the Divine in our lives, helping to strengthen us and regenerate us.
This is the goal of Karis Counseling: to interact with each person in a manner that reflects grace and acceptance.
Joel Whitney, MA, LLPC
Joel Whitney earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Grand Valley University and his Masters degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. Joel has prior experience working in psychiatric hospitals, residential services, and Community Mental Health systems. Among the different clients he has worked with are adolescents, families, and individuals. Joel has experience in many areas of counseling, but has specialties working with trauma, sexual dysfunction, family dynamics and parenting issues, and adolescent issues. Above all, Joel has an appreciation for people and a sincere desire to offer hope in troubled times.
